Protein Packed Smoothie

It is here Friday and the last day of school before spring break.  We made it to the end of the week, but yet I had so much to do today. I knew today would be one of those days where I would not have time to stop and eat between breakfast and sometime mid afternoon.  This is not that unusual and being a mixture girl there is no need to worry.  I am not one to go hungry as I rarely leave the house without tossing a bag of mixture in my purse.  Often times I hit the jackpot and have the remnants of multiple bags in the bottom of my purse or in the car and I can mix them together.. .even better.  

Oh Please STOP thinking gross or how strange.  

As if you have never eaten the leftovers of your child’s snack or snuck a sip of water from their water bottle when out and about. We all are guilty of it at one time or another.  Besides mixtures don’t go bad for a very long time.  Again making them one of Life’s Perfect Foods.

Anyway I had my mixture in my bag. I was dressed and ready to take on the craziness of my day.  All I needed was something to get me started.  Well in actuality that is not true.  I needed nutrition and something wholesome.  I had already gotten started because I NEED COFFEE and generally have a cup in hand within 20 minutes of waking up, if it even takes that long. The vitamix was already out from Little Miss Mixture’s breakfast, so I decided perfect.  Quick, Easy, and it will provide sustenance for the day.

I think when you assess smoothies there are different types.  Some people like cold and icy and others prefer more creamy.  I like creamy which makes perfect sense as I love milkshakes in any form or fashion and have been a milkshake girl for years.  In my opinion a milkshake, similar to a smoothie but has been around far longer, has always been a meal for me.  I used to pick up milkshakes randomly for meals in my teens and 20’s.  Okay truth is I still would and in our house we can be caught having a liquid lunch at times. The only difference is I try and make them so whether smoothie or milkshake they have some nutritional value.

 Yes I hear the rumblings ” what a dietitian and she eats that way”  Here is what you need to know about a dietitian. We have been to school and passed an exam and we know what you should eat, but we are people, just like celebrities we do normal things.  We eat foods that may not be the healthiest choice.  Difference is we know the choice we are making and most of us know how to be okay with that and make it a balance.  Ironically this was trending on twitter today 


Protein Packed Smoothie

1/2 cup Milk

4 Tbsp. Peanut Butter

1 Banana

1/2 Frozen Banana

1/2 tsp. Cinnamon

Add all items in order into blender or similar type appliance.  Blend until creamy and enjoy.


I am so glad I started my day the way I did because had I not I probably would have found myself much more irritable due to hunger and allowed some things to bother me more than they should have.  I am learning to let some things go and realizing everyone has a different view of things, but I get aggravated by how some things are carried out these days.

Now time to relax and enjoy the weekend and week ahead without the nuisance of alarm clocks and homework.
